Dr. Kent is originally from Western New York graduating from Clarence Central High School with honors. She completed her undergraduate education and graduated from Union College, Schenectady, New York. summa cum laude with a degree in Biological Sciences. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, New York and then went on to an Ophthalmology Residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York. She won the senior research award in her final year of residency.
During her residency, cornea and external disease became a serious interest, which led her to apply for further training. She then completed a year of intensive training during a Corneal Fellowship at WillsEyeHospital in Philadelphia. WillsEyeHospital has stood for excellence in eye care for more than a century and a half. There she trained with Peter Laibson, MD, Elizabeth Cohen, MD and Juan Arentson, MD, leaders in the field of corneal surgery and treatment of corneal and external diseases. Shortly after finishing her fellowship she completed testing to become Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She continues to attend educational meetings and lectures each year including the AmericanAcademy of Ophthalmology annual meeting to keep current on the latest ophthalmic technology and treatments.
